My name is Rebecca Sutherns. As the creator of Sage Solutions, I bring together strong skills in strategic thinking, ‘big picture’ analysis, teaching and writing with an engaging and outgoing personality to provide customized facilitation, strategic planning, training, policy analysis and research services to my clients. Those who know me describe me as being high energy, productive, well organized and insightful. I love to learn and to help others do the same.

I have worked in the voluntary sector for 19 years, with a dual focus on community development and women’s health. I am particularly familiar with community-based healthcare delivery organizations and other social service agencies, and international development NGOs. I have also worked with federal, provincial and municipal governments and taught in universities. I am fluent in both English and French and have worked both internationally and in Canada.

I have a PhD in Sociology with a focus on rural women’s health policy and sustainable communities, and a Master’s in Public Administration. I therefore bring solid academic rigour to my work, but have chosen to work outside of academic settings, primarily because of my interest in real-time, real-life solutions.

I am a busy mother of four children, happily married to another entrepreneur. I juggle numerous volunteer commitments in our community. I love to travel, I teach fitness, I enjoy homeschooling our children part-time, I am obsessed with knitting and I am in a fun and thought provoking Book Club.
